How Ordering a Medicine Works

To help ensure the safe and appropriate supply of medicines, every non-prescription pharmacy-only medication order is reviewed by a registered pharmacist before it is dispatched:

  • Each medicine product page contains important information about the product, including its intended use, suitability, dosage instructions, potential side effects, and the Patient Information Leaflet (PIL).
  • Before placing an order for certain medicines, you will be required to complete an online consultation form in accordance with regulatory requirements. By submitting the form, you confirm that you are 18 years of age or older, have read and understood the product information, are eligible to use the medicine, and will use the medicine in accordance with the Patient Information Leaflet (PIL).
  • Once your order and/or online consultation form is submitted, it is placed on hold for review by one of our registered pharmacists, who may approve it, contact you for more information, or decline it where it would not be appropriate to supply.
  • A medicine order will only be dispatched following approval by a registered pharmacist. If a medicine cannot be supplied, you will receive a full refund and be informed of the reason for the decision.

Record Keeping

As a pharmacy registered on the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) Internet Supply List, we maintain records relating to the online supply of non-prescription medicines and over-the-counter medicines in accordance with regulatory requirements.

For every pharmacy-only and over-the-counter medicine order, we maintain a record of the transaction for two years, including confirmation that all necessary checks have been completed prior to supply. This includes verification that the purchaser is 18 years of age or older, understands that the medicine must be used in accordance with the product packaging and Patient Information Leaflet (PIL), and that the quantity supplied is appropriate for personal treatment, taking into account any previous supplies. We also retain a record of the registered pharmacist’s clinical review, approval, and authorisation of the supply.

All records are stored securely and managed in accordance with applicable data protection legislation. Transaction records are retained for a period of two years from the date of supply and may be inspected by the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) and the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) as part of their regulatory oversight responsibilities.
